  1. I’ve had this phone since early May 2009 and it’s alright. Wish the USB cable came with it since, you know, it’d be nice to be able to get your photos and videos off the bloody thing. I’m sorry but, believe it or not, not every single recently released computer or laptop out there has Bluetooth.

It did, however, come with the earbud thing (for talking and listening to music) and AC adapter. (I got mine through Fido which is my provider.)

Having the touchscreen only for dialing IS sort of silly. Would have been neat if you could navigate the menus through touch too.

I also wish that there wasn’t the damn DRM on it so I can use some custom ringtones. Not sure if this was the fault of LG or the provider though.

Some good things about the Neon is that it’s fairly easy to use, call reception is quite good, and the sound is pretty clear.

But, in retrospect, had I known that there would be an explosion of QWERTY phones piling up on the market shortly afterward, I probably wouldn’t have picked this up.

Alyssa: If you’re in the process of typing a text message, you can save a draft of it. If text messages are sent, they’ll be saved in the Sent folder.

JB: I don’t think it’s fair to tell people not to buy the phone. I’ve never had any of those issues with my cell. I am certain, however, that there will be some LG Neons out there that are DOA or have software or electronic issues but I don’t think there’s a single company out there that make perfect merchandise 100% of the time.

  2. It’s an alright phone, texting is a breeze. Only fault I can find is the stupid DRM so you can’t use custom ringtones which is a HUGE let down. Thanks to Rogers I will make sure to read reviews on the web before buying anything like the LG Nazi..errr…I mean the LG Neon. For the price I think it should have come with more themes, just black and white? Come on now, this is 2009 be creative! Customizable themes? Nope. Touchscreen dialing is awesome, having touchscreen to navigate through phone would have been even better.

All in all, don’t get this phone, go for something else.

  3. I have also tried searching online on how to convert mp3 files to DRM, but no luck what so ever. I tried BitPim, Sony Ericson software and the phone does not allow me to use it as a ringtone. Someone needs to bypass this somehow, it’s irritating to listen to my DEFAULT ringtone when someone calls. I’ve wasted an hour of my time and felt like I have done nothing. Sigh.

  4. Never buy this phone, mine broke one month after I bought it. The screen stopped working for no reason on a morning. After 3 month of examination by LG they ask me 120$ to repair it.

  5. Nikki,

Insert and format your MicroSD inside your Cellphone [see instruction – LG NEON under Format]. It will automatically create folders[images, sounds et all]. Then remove it from your phone and use your card reader/writer to transfer MP3 music from your USB/Computer to Micro SD[Sound Folder].

  6. I’ve had my Neon for almost 2 months now. No problems except a defective micro SD I got for it, which has nothing to do with the phone. Came with stereo headset. I use a bluetooth headset as well. it has never frozen, gone silent or any of the other crap u all mention. I agree the symbol menu in text mode is stupid, and the touch dialing is pointless.
    I’m happy with my purchase.

  7. For the person wanting to use a ring tone from their PC – the easiest idea might be to use the voice recorder found in the TOOLS folder. Just play the sound file on your computer and record it on your phone.

That might just work! Not 100% quality sound but i’ve done it before with a Sony phone and it was fine.

  8. i bought this phone yesturday night and ive been crazy about it.. my friends have it any nothing happend to theirs, this phone is good for me for now šŸ™‚ but later i prefer a little bit better phone

  9. In reply to “Mark”…on my lg neon I can play music on the player countinously but only out of the “Recent Songs” or “Favorite Songs” folders. I cannot get any of my own playlists to do it. After 1 song the player will disengage itself and I get the AT&T menu. I’m not sure why this happens. As others have mentioned, the so-called manual that comes with the phone is utter crap so I’m at a loss and frustrated with this issue. Anyone? Bueller?

  10. What a pile of shit. This phone is by far the crappiest phone I’ve ever used. What’s with this phone randomly shutting off while txting?? I’ve already send it once already for the same issue seemed to work good for a month and now once again I have to bring this back. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE, IT JUST CAUSES FRUSTRATION.

On a side note, this is a txt phone, I txt a lot. And it’s great for txting WHEN IT WORKS!

    Im so pissed.

  11. Phone bought in Canada from Rogers Wireless. From the cover of booklet that came with it titled “Quick Start Guide”.

The User Guide is fully ilustrated on how to use your phone.

  12. one question how can I, if possible delete the default images and default game demos on the Lg Neon? simply to give myself more space on my phone.

  13. I found how to put songs on my memory card, but i cant put any of my songs as my ringtones cause i hate the ringtones on it cause they suck, so does anyone know how to put external memory songs as your ringtone?

  14. I got this phone a month ago and i want to know how to put ringtones that i got from the voice recorder as my ringtone…can you help me?

  15. this phone is the biggest peice of garbage i have ever owned i got it origanly in april and 2 months latter i and to get it replaced as the screen stoped working for no reason and now the same thing has happend AGAIN so 2 phones in 5 months not god and i know a couple people that have the same phone and they hav had the exact same problem DO NOT GET THIS PHONE IT IS GARBAGE

  16. PIECE OF JUNK PHONE! Shuts off randomly during texts. AT&T says it must have gotten wet! Yeah, right, while sitting in my purse!?!?! Don’t treat me like a criminal–just make good on the phone!
I bought mine new and have returned three refurbished ones that didn’t work either besides the fact that I bought NEW and expect NEW in return for the one that doesn’t work. LG does not respond to queries.

  17. Screen stopped working in under 1 month but these carriers know it and full exchange is only available before 15 days. Have been waiting for replacement or refurbished for 3 weeks. I beleive that there is a problem with the screens and nobody wants to admit it and have to recall them all. It will cost LG too much to do the recall.

  18. PLEASE tell me how you got the MP3 as a ringtone….i’ve been trying for days. I have an LG Rhythm and love it, but I got the LG Neon for my daughter and I can’t seem to get songs on it for her…other than for the music player. She wants music ringtones on that phone, and who can blame her?

  19. There are so many problems with this phone!
    1) I can’t send picture messages.
    2) The screen is super sensitive, so it broke.
    3) The phone randomly shuts off.
    4) It takes 4 seconds for the screen to transition.
šŸ™ and it costs a lot of money to get it repaired!

  20. My phone works quite well. I got mine from Fido for 175(with taxes) so 197. They gave me a headset with it. The volume works well, everything works fine. The memory card, I also bought from Fido. It’s 2GB and comes with a USB drive. So I just take out the memory card, put it in my phone, and when I’m ready, I take out the memory card and put it in the usb part, then plug it into my computer and load the files onto it.

What my problem is, is the touchscreen. It works fine, but when I want to access my voicemail or a voice recording prompts me to dial a number or key, it won’t work. I can dial a phone number just fine, but once it comes to ‘please press 1” it doesn’t work.

  21. P.S, I think getting a 3 or 4G memory card is necessary. I have a 2G, but I might get a 4G. The name of it is Kingston. So yea.

  22. Hi ! I just got a micro sd memory card and i put my songs on it but i cannot found them on my cellphone…where do i have to go ?

  23. Hi. I don’t understand the complaints. I ordered my te365 from Fido on Sept 29 and Received from UPS 11:30am at my door Oct 1. The phone came ready to go. AC Adapter and Headphones came with the package. Ebay sellers have the USB data cable for $3+shipping. I paid a total of $6CAN. I’ll have to wait 10 days to receive from Hong Kong, but oh well. the te365 is not a smartphone. Don’t wine about the phone, it’s cheap. Go buy an iPhone if you’re super nerdy. I have a T-Flash USB MicroSD stick and shoved the mp3s into its sounds directory. .3GP files into the videos folder, and .JPG files into my images folder. P.S., Format the SD Card on the LG and it sets all of the directories for you. It’s not 100% open like my Nokia, but there are workarounds. Also, I use LG Suite III to transfer if you prefer to use the data cable. Good luck.

  24. Hey Elijah,

I’ve bought a 4G microSD and a $3 USB cable from eBay. Got them both in hand but I can’t figure out how to retrieve data from the phone. Once I plugged the USB cable to my computer, the phone started beeping constantly and the computer does not recognize the USB device. Good god there seems have done no damage to the phone. Maybe I’ve received a defective cable. Please let me know how you do once you’ve received your cable. We should compare notes. Appreciate you reply to ttwkam@yahoo.com. Thanks.

  25. Wished that the user manual mentioned any of this – Fido and LG are sad. Experimented a lot and got USB transfer working between TE365 and my iMac with the eBay USB cable.

    1. Make sure phone is fully charged – may fail if not.
    2. Turn on phone; turn off PC.
    3. Plug phone to PC using the cable.
    4. Turn on PC.
    5. Phone will display “Call and message are not available”; hinting the connection is established.
    6. PC should show two new drives – one for internal storage and one for the SD card.
    7. Drag and drop files.

Phone will beep indefinitely and won’t connect if PC is on when you plug in the cable.
    BTW, no drivers are required!

  26. Anybody who has anything good to say about this phone either
    a) just bought it and hasn’t tried to use it yet.
    b) is a LG shill paid to write reviews on phone sites or
    c) is a complete and total idiot!

This phone is a nightmare! Do not buy! It shuts off randomly, has zero functionality, and is poorly designed in everyway!

  27. i bought the the whole package for 150 including this plann and it came with headphones and bluetooth! i suggest if yhur looking for a low price bluetooth usb cable go to wall mart yhu can get one for 19.95

  28. two phones both pieces of junk. the lg neon is junk. my daughter has gone through two phones, both she could not hear on for about 30 seconds after she placed a call and then about a week latter when she went to charge them the screen went black. this has happened on ***two*** different phone. im calling the BBB, im tired of AT&T and LG covering these issues up. the phone is junk and needs to be recalled. they claim the orange dot under the battery was from her getting the phone wet. well that shows just home dumb the employees at AT&T are. The dot under the battery is orange even when you take a new phone out of the box so dont let them trick you into thinking you got your phone wet and PLEASE DONT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK PHONE. YOU WILL BE WASTING YOUR MONEY…

  29. I also had the problem with the phone that when I called people it wouldn’t ring in my ear, and then (if the other person actually stayed on the line) the person I was calling would be yelling HELLO rudely at me when I could finally actually hear them. Several people told me that they had said hello 3-5 times before I responded. Some of my closer friends got in the habit of just hanging up on me when I was calling them and then dialing me back.
I got pretty annoyed with all of this and called AT&T. They gave me the number to call so that I could learn how to return my phone and get a replacement (How did they know that I was just dying to waste my afternoon figuring out how to make sure they couldn’t trick me into not following their specific return policy so they could just end up blaming their problem on me?!–Note my sarcasim), but I kept forgetting to ask people if they would let me use their phone to call that number, since I needed to call from another line so the AT&T people could ask me a bunch of questions about my phone (i.e. what is the number under the battery, is the dot below the battery orange, have you tried taking out the battery and putting it back in… the usual).
Anyway, long story short, in the meantime I deleted all of my text messages, and, as if by magic, I could hear people again!!
I think there must be some sort of problem with the memory capabilities of the phone. Any other ideas?
If other stuff on the phone starts malfunctioning or this proved to be just a minor hiccup in the phone’s mission to drive me crazy, I’m definately calling AT&T back.
    I’m sure they can’t wait!

^ same situation there, except it’s my phone. anyone know how??

  31. Idk if this was answered, but to all the people saying you can only store 500 texts, this is true, but if u have an SD card it conviniently writes all your sent and received texts into a document and stores them there when u click the ‘save text messages’ option in one of the menu’s. That way you can clear your sent and received texts everytime they reach 500, and u can still refer back to old texts that have been stored in a single document. This is a good starter phone if u want a QWERTY keyboard for texting. I send fairly long text messagse, most reaching over 500 charactres, so this is definatly a good phone for me. it does however skip letters and glitch up one sentance, but all in all texting is much faster with this phone.

  32. I’ve had this phone a few months and loved it at first. With in a week, the screen was locking up, texting was super slow, calls would take forever to connect, and at times it would randomly shut down. Thinking it was defective, I took it back and had it replaced with the same type phone. BIG mistake. I’m still having issues with slow texting, freezing screen, and issues with phone connections. I HATE this phone!!!!!!

  33. I had the same problems as everyone else here. I had the phone replaced once, then had the second one sent to LG for “repairs” and I just got it back 3 days ago so I’m waiting to see what happens with it. I thinks its shit and if I still have problems I’m changing cell phone providers. PIECE OF SHIT!!!!!!!!!

  34. No, I’m sorry but this phone is horrible. When I first saw it, I thought, “awe, how cute! It does so much cool stuff, I’m definitely getting that one!” Well, apparently LG doesn’t know how to make a decent cell phone because I can almost never talk on it. People can’t hear me on the other end. I can almost never text on it, my phone shuts down before I can type more than three letters, and I mean COMPLETELY TURNS OFF. Can’t use the music or radio, doesn’t work. Calculator is deadly complicated. Internet always says “not enough memory; time out”. MSN now no longer allows me to log on, it keeps saying incorrect password, even though I know it’s the right one. And on the off chance that I do manage to get online, it logs me off automatically after about 2 minutes. This phone, make and model, is about as useful as looking nice. Everything else on it is either crap or stops working after a very short period of time. I’ve barely had this phone for more than 4 months and I’m already looking into buying an iPhone. This is just ridiculous. My crap Nokia worked a hell of a lot better than this one. The only upside to this phone is that the display is fairly nice, and the battery life is awesome. Otherwise, not a good phone for absolutely any purpose.

  35. I got this phone a few months ago, and i would like to say, DO NOT GET THIS PHONE! It turns off randomly during texts and is super slow. My friend also got the same phone, and complains that it also turns off.

  36. My girlfriend an I have this stupid phone too. They both act up just the same as everyone elses. Our phones are through rogers and they said the only thing they can do for us is keep sending it in for repairs. also the little white dots on your phone and battery tells them weather your have water damage or not if it is pink they won’t help you, your screwed even if your phone has never been wet and you know that for a fact. but those little dots are pink they wont fix your phone. but here is the kicker…. they will sell you a new phone at regular price starting at $100 what a bunch of theifs

I say just keep sending your phones in for repair the more people do it maybe they will get the hint and maybe put out a recall. Tell your friends and whoever you know that has this phone send it in for repairs get a loner phone and lets flood them with our SHIT PHONES!

  37. I do have Same Problems like all other ppl here. I got this phone about 5 months ago. First time it worked fine, but now it

    1. randomly shuts off while txting
    2. often i can not hear (or speak) to other person on the phone

This phone is stupid. Also This phone has not been near water since i bought it (and i know this for fact), but still shows me that stupid dot. Anyway, DONT BUY THIS PHONE if you are planning to buy this phone, and if you already have these… o well gg
